Per-mailbox vs account settings
Some settings change only the mailbox you're currently in; others change your whole account. Settings is split into two clear sections: a switch at the top flips between Global (your whole account) and This mailbox (the active one), so you always know which you're changing. Each section is headed by its own stats.
Per mailbox (the active one)
- The assistant's personalization (unless you share it; see below)
- Photo reading / image-search progress
- Send-as addresses and the Sent folder
- Syncing and importing that mailbox
Click the mailbox name at the top of the This-mailbox section to switch; these sections re-scope in place, without leaving the page. The same dialog is also where you manage your mailboxes: rename, sending addresses, disconnect, add another.
Your whole account (every mailbox)
- Profile, password and language
- Plan, billing and what it includes
- Notifications and auto-sync
- Custom fields
- Recovery codes and privacy
Your plan limits (emails, storage and your AI) are counted across all your mailboxes together, so the "Account totals" figures never split per mailbox. The "This mailbox" figures (contacts, emails, files, photos read) count just the active one.
Sharing the assistant across mailboxes
By default the assistant learns each mailbox separately, so a work inbox and a personal one can have different styles. If you'd rather keep one profile everywhere, turn on "Use this personalization for all my mailboxes" in the This mailbox section of Settings. Turning it on copies your current mailbox's profile to the shared one first, so nothing is lost; turn it off to go back to a separate profile per mailbox.
